Brice Marden

Brice Marden. I absolutley love his work, most people will think, ‘oh isnt thhatat just a squiggly line?’ But no, its much more than that.  Marden is a painter and printmaker, (from America!) . His early works potray the development of minimalism. He’s brining together abstract works and minimalism, which coulod be an difficult thing to do, but he makes it simple. He’s got that balance right.

Marden made these paintings using a mixture of oil and beeswax.

Focus I-V, 1979-80
Suite of five color etchings
with aquatint

Brice Marden, Chinese Dancing, 1994-96. Oil on canvas, 60 x 108.

Brice Marden, Study for Muses, Hydra, 1997.

Im only going to show four of his paintings, because in my eye there arent much difference between the ones I was going to choose. I have included a video, of Marden talking about his views on the study of painting, enjoy!
