I absolutely love the work of Dan Mumford. Probably only saying that because he does the cover art or over 50% of the bands that I have an interest for. Only joking, he is a seriously talented man, and deserves every bit of recognition he has. Dan Mumford is a freelance illustrator/designer/screen printer working out of Studio100 in central London, Kingsland road, and screen print studio in Dalston. I find it really fascinating that he will draw just about anything, within the regions of course.
Ah i absolutely love this poster for ‘The Thing’. Mumford is not like other things ive seen before created for a move poster. Somehow he has incorporated a very clever way to express just how flexible the alien in the poster really is. I think he trying to show that it can really become anything, and its not afraid. By using tendril-like cords of flesh to represent the Thing in its most primitive state, Dan has crafted a creepy, but beautiful, body horror masterpiece (just like the film, which I love). What I love about his pieces of work is that, how unique and weird looking he conveys them.
